AI Slops & AI Fails

Jesus, a Baby, and Scarlett Johansson

This AI-generated photorealistic image recently went viral. It shows a serene Jesus lovingly holding a smiling, chubby baby. Both are adorned in white robes and flower wreaths. The peaceful, almost divine quality of the image evokes warmth and comfort, thereby tapping into universal emotions of purity, joy, and protection.

Yet, as is typical for those so-called AI slops, the Facebook post sharing it labels the image "Beautiful cabin crew" and tags it with "Scarlett Johansson" (complete with kissing and heart-filled emojis). This dissonance between image and caption is probably an algorithmical mismatch created for clicks and engagement (or simply confusion?).

The emotional appeal, however, is real. The image mimics sacred art and tenderness, and thus triggers instant likes and shares even if users sense the absurdity. That mix of beauty and nonsense may explain why it’s been liked over 53,000 times.
